That's right, TwoGirlsGoGreen readers... there's only 34 days left until the presidential election. And no matter what party you side with, you need to let your voice be heard. If you're not registered to vote yet, visit the site http://www.voteforchange.com/.
So, just to get some discussion going, here's a breakdown of the candidates' stand on the envrionment (as given by http://www.barackobama.com/ and http://www.johnmccain.com/):
Obama
Obama

-Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future.
-Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined.
-Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America.
-Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025.
-Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

McCain
-Implement a Cap-And-Trade system that would set limits on greenhouse gas emissions while encouraging the development of low-cost compliance options.
-Promote the innovation, development and deployment of advanced technologies.
-Support rapid economic growth.
-Engage the global community in a coordinated effort in finding a global solution for climate change.
- Addressing climate change through adaptation as well as mitigation.
Obviously this is a super quick rundown, and I didn't go into how they intend to achieve these goals... but it's something to think about.
What are your thoughts?

Not that I'm biased against McCain or anything, but he has no real goals, no set dates that he wants to accomplish things by. And what does 'advanced technology' mean? He's probably referring to warfare. Senile old man....
I agree, it would be nice for John to give a specific time frame to accomplish his goals. The website that I sourced does go into a bit more detail per goal - if you're interested.
Thanks for reading and letting us know your thoughts!
